Biography

Scott Mactavish is first and foremost a husband and father of three boys.  He works as a filmmaker, author and entrepreneur and is a veteran of the United States Navy.

His film projects include MURPH: The Protector, which was a contender for the Oscar in several categories and Ride for Lance, a tribute to fallen Navy SEAL Lance Vacarro. He attended NYU Film School and worked on dozens of big Hollywood films before launching his company in 1998.

Scott is the author of The New Dad’s Survival Guide (Little, Brown and Company) and co-author of Battle Ready: Memoir of a SEAL Warrior Medic (St. Martin’s Press.)  He’s written for several national and regional publications on topics ranging from veterans’ issues to fatherhood to the current state of the entertainment industry.

He actively mentors young filmmakers and authors and has spoken at major corporations and universities around the country, including Penn State and The University of Virginia. Scott has been a guest of Fox and Friends, NBC, CBS, PBS and dozens of radio stations from coast to coast.

He spends his free time coaching soccer and sailing with his wife and sons, and volunteers for various veterans’ and faith-based organizations.  At age 47 he enrolled at the University of Alabama and is completing a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies.
